squidgiepdxIf you've watched any number of BBC comedies, from Waiting for God to Doc Martin and anything in between, you're no doubt familiar with Stephanie Cole. She was a wonderfully comedic individual with a rapid wit and a sharp tongue, or at least she always played those characters. She died on the 18th from complications of Alzheimer's.
Yea gods, Alzheimer's is a horrid disease. It and dementia are the two that scare me the most - more than just about anything else.
May be news to you as it was to me, but Cole was only 84 when she died - which itself is hilarious as it is cruel. Because I always thought Cole was in her 80s back when Waiting for God premiered in 1990, but she was actually 49 years old at the time. She just looked the part. Most of the older folks (if not all) have preceeded her in death, as they were all truly in their 70s and 80s when filming.
I watched the BBC version of Doc Martin after they created the US version (called Best Medicine, which happens to have the season 2 permier tonight!) and honestly couldn't stand the titular character. The only thing that got me through was Stephanie Cole, who played Doc Martin's aunt for the first four seasons. After she left the series, I stopped watching.
In other news, pretty much everything else is same-old-same-old. Trying to get through my Sunday chores so I can get to my personal tasks for the day, but wanted to stop in and drop a note saying hello and to pass this little bit of information on.
